SLALEY teenager Daniel Joyce set a new personal best time of 1m 52.87s when he won gold at the Schools International Athletic Board (SIAB) Championships in Scotland on Saturday.
The 15-year-old made his England debut at the Grangemouth Athletics Stadium in East Stirlingshire, when he won the 800m by half a second.
Daniel's father Joe Joyce captured this footage of the victory, which also saw Daniel compete at U17 level for the first time.
The gold medal in Scotland concluded a remarkable week for Daniel, who only qualified for the event thanks to another emphatic performance seven days earlier.
Representing Durham on July 13 and 14, the Tynedale Harrier took part in the English Schools national championships in Birmingham, winning both his heat and the final in the 800m.
