FOUR generations gathered to celebrate John and Betty Gray’s platinum wedding anniversary.
They commemorated 70 years of marriage with a family party at their home near Kiln Pit Hill. Guests included their daughter Christine, their five grandchildren and their 10 great grandchildren.
John (93) and Betty (90) were married at St Mary’s Church, Stamfordham, on May 1, 1948.
And they spent their entire working lives together building up a renowned herd of dairy cows, that attracted visitors from as far afield as Canada and New Zealand.
After working for a number of farmers in the region, the couple bought their first small holding in their early 30s and built up their farming business over the ensuing years, ending up at Stocksfield Hall Farm.
