THE choir at Mowden Hall school, near Stocksfield, will be performing at Durham Cathedral tonight.

Members of the choir will be joining forces with the boys of Cothill House School in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, for Songs for the Solstice at the cathedral, following successful collaborations at St Bride’s Fleet Street, Hexham Abbey and Winchester Cathedral in recent years.

Songs for the Solstice features a mix of mainly 20th Century sacred and secular choral music, including works by Will Todd, George Gershwin, Geoffrey Burgon, Malcolm Archer and John Rutter.

The programme also showcases the talents of some of the schools’ promising instrumentalists in performances on the Northumbrian pipes, violin and flute.
