VIEWERS turning on the telly in Prudhoe may have heard the dulcet tones of two familiar voices recently.

For a pair of youngsters from the town have recently voiced a children’s show for ITV.

Lauren Billany and Mackenzie Toal provided voiceover work for a new CITV programme, Mission Employable.

Produced by ITV SignPost in Gateshead, the show features two young presenters who go behind the scenes of jobs children most want to do.

The presenters, Danny and Kym, are both deaf and present the show in British Sign Language.

So Lauren and Mackenzie were brought in to voice their pieces to camera along with the facts they present during the programme.

The 10-part series will see secret agents Danny and Kym, of the Mission Employable Agency, take on missions to become a train driver, farmer, zookeeper, footballer and firefighter.

Lauren (16) and Mackenzie (10) both auditioned through their theatre school, Acting Up, in March.

And on April 5, they were both invited to the ITV studios in Gateshead to take their places in the recording studio.

Lauren, who is currently studying for her GCSEs at Prudhoe Community High School, said: “It was really exciting.

“Voiceover work is a lot more challenging, but I absolutely loved it. I hope to take drama A-level and hope to go into a career teaching drama or performing it. I would really love to do more voice work.”

Mackenzie is a student at Highfield Middle School. His mum, Fiona Toal, said: “He absolutely loved it.

“He had never done voiceover work before but he learned a lot from being coached. He would love to do more.”
