SCHOOLchildren in Prudhoe transformed a drab storage container into a colourful work of art.
The container, based at Prudhoe Waterworld, is used to store bikes for the cycle loan scheme.
Pupils in years 3 and 4 at Prudhoe Castle First School teamed up with graffiti artist, Andy Morley of Creative Ginger, to create a range of drawings based on cycling and local landscapes.
They were then adapted and spray painted on the container by Andy.
Katie Newton, deputy headteacher at Prudhoe Castle First School, said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for the school to be part of a project which will have a positive impact on the local community.
“The children really care for their community and thoroughly enjoyed working alongside a real artist to create their design ideas.”
The cycle loan scheme, run by Active Northumberland and Northumberland County Council’s Go Smarter team, allows adults to enjoy cycling by loaning a bike for £25 a month.
It is available from selected Active Northumberland leisure centres, including Prudhoe Waterworld, Blyth, Cramlington and Watbike in Ashington.
