A SELF-TAUGHT Prudhoe film-maker has picked up his third award this year.

Steven JR Lawson has been recognised at the IndieFEST Film Awards with an Award of Merit for his film Man at Arms – an animation film based on popular fantasy action film Masters of the Universe.

The awards were announced online earlier this month.

This comes after he received an Award of Merit in July from The Best Shorts Competition, for his short film a Night for a Kill , based on a serial killer on death row.

Steven (36) received his first Award of Merit in May at the IndieFEST for his fan film Freddy’s Nightmare .

He said: “I’m well chuffed, I’m absolutely over the moon.

“That’s three three films this year and three merits.

“I have already submitted Man at Arms at another festival so we’ll see what happens there.

“It makes me want to keep doing what I’m doing.”
