THIS week, I took my grand-children to the ‘inflatable’ session at Ponteland swimming pool in the leisure centre on Callerton Lane.

The ‘inflatable’ session takes place seven days a week in the school holidays from 1.30pm until 3pm, and we shall certainly be going again.

It is huge fun for children of all ages who are happy to repeatedly fall in (even at the deep end).

I found the water warm and the session well covered by lots of very vigilant lifeguards.

The toddler pool is open from 10.30am until 11.30am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and from 11am until noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

The main pool is open from 7am until 10pm daily (closes at 9pm on Fridays, 4pm on Saturdays and 8pm on Sundays).

As well as the ‘inflatable’, sessions include ‘aquafit’, swim school crash course, swim club, general swim, adult swim and lane swim.

There is also an extensive fitness class programme at the leisure centre seven days (and evenings) a week.

For information on everything going on at the Leisure centre telephone (01661) 825441, look online, or call in for a leaflet.

TOMORROW and Sunday, it is Madagascar weekend at Kirkley from 10am until 4pm.

Then from Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21, it is summer zoo club, when there will be different activities for children aged five to 15 each day.
