The owner of Ponteland bar and bistro YOLO has submitted an application to open from 10am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The bar, on Bell Villas in the centre of Ponteland, was opened by Neil Winch in September last year.
At the time, Mr Winch said he hoped YOLO would revive the nightlife of Ponteland.
However, in its objection to the application, Ponteland Town Council said no similar establishment in Ponteland remained open past midnight.
The objection stated: “The extension of opening hours into the early hours of the morning is inappropriate and would create unacceptable disturbance around the area, particularly for nearby residents.”
A final decision will be made by the county council’s planning department.
