Ahead of the release of their documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996, Oasis have revealed unseen live footage from their performance of Champagne Supernova from 1996.

Taken from the second night of the band’s two era-defining Knebworth shows, it saw the band joined on stage by John Squire from the Stone Roses for the seven minute song.

The new clip hears Noel Gallagher’s take on the moment some fans say signified the passing of the baton from the Stone Roses to Oasis.

It also features first-hand accounts from the fans who were there, recounting their bond with the band and that weekend’s life changing events.

The video can be viewed on YouTube and is the first glimpse of their new documentary which will be released in cinemas on Thursday September 23.

Oasis Knebworth 1996 details the special relationship that Oasis had with their fans that made the concert possible.

Oasis’ two record breaking nights at Knebworth took place on August 10 and 11 1996, with over a quarter of a million young music fans from all over the world converging on Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire.

It is told entirely in the moment through the eyes of the fans who were there, built around extensive and never before seen archive concert and backstage footage from the event, with additional interviews with the band and concert organisers.

Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher also serve as executive producers on the film.

The audio from that performance has also been released today and is available to stream and download.
