The second annual Taste Tynedale event, which was supported by a grant from Hexham Town Council, took place in July and is believed to have attracted thousands of visitors to the town.
It began last year with market stalls and cookery demonstrations lining Beaumont Street, but this year moved into the Abbey Grounds.
“If you remember, the arrangement is that our grant for the festival gradually reduces to zero by year four,” Mayor of Hexham, Coun. Tom Gillanders told the latest meeting of Hexham Town Council.
“The feedback has been very good, generally speaking, and the organisers, CN Events, said they much preferred being off the road this year. They’ve agreed to send a breakdown of numbers when they have them.”
