THE younger generation of Haydon Bridge residents have been praised for their contribution the village’s recent street party.

Church Street was a hive of activity on Sunday June 12, when crowds turned out to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

At a meeting of Haydon Parish Council, Coun. Eileen Charlton expressed her delight at the day’s events.

She said: “There was a great turnout, lots of good food and live music, and I commend everyone for their efforts.

“Someone said to me that it was so nice that our younger people came along and helped with the tables and chairs, and clearing up.

“It makes you feel as though the next generation is getting involved, and that’s a great thing.”
