Haltwhistle footballers have called for respect after litter was strewn across their pitch.

The Haltwhistle Railway team returned for pre-season training last week to find their makeshift changing room had been broken into.

Manager Mark Storey said bags of rubbish stored inside the portable cabin had been opened, with the contents scattered both inside, and on the playing area. He said: “This isn’t just a pitch for us to use. Families bring their children for a kick about here, and it’s dangerous to have broken bottles and other things lying around.”
