A fourth patient in Northumberland has died after testing positive to coronavirus.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said the patient was 65 and had underlying health conditions.

It comes shortly after the second and third deaths at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington on Wednesday.

All three of the previous deaths were elderly patients with underlying health conditions.

It has recently been revealed that a total of 759 people have now died of the coronavirus in the UK, with the increase of 181 being the biggest rise in deaths that the country has seen so far, surpassing Thursday's total of 115.

Thursday's Public Health England figures showed 23 confirmed cases in Northumberland.
