I THOUGHT that I could take this opportunity to advise you of some forthcoming events which will be extremely popular, so you may wish to reserve your tickets.

FIRSTLY, on Sunday, August 23, in the parish hall at 6.30pm, you can enjoy Jazz at Twilight organised by Camille Mazarelo.

Another such concert is planned for Sunday, September 20.

To book your place, please contact Minsteracres telephone (01434) 673248, call in to the Forum Bookshop in Corbridge or telephone them on (01434) 632931.

IF you were lucky enough to see the Tyne Valley Youth Theatre’s last Play in a Week performed in the parish hall on Saturday, August 1, you couldn’t help but be impressed with the transformation of the hall into a pit of sand, the talent of the young players and the subject matter they tackled.

Inspired by Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games, The Birds Stop to Listen was a commentary on tyrannical governments, global warming, utopian dreams turning into dystopian nightmares, competition culture and technological advancements. How can they follow that?

Well, the TVYT’s next Play in a Week will be performed on Saturday, August 29, in the Millennium Hall.

Get ready to immerse yourself into a world inspired by Roald Dahl’s, The Twits.

Perhaps they will offer me the lead role?

For tickets visit the TVYT website www.tvyt.org.uk.

YOU may remember hearing Steve and Carol Robson, also known as Fool’s Gold, singing at the Music in the Park concert in June.

Well, they will be back in the village at the Millennium Hall on Saturday, October 10, at 8pm.

Tickets will shortly be available, so please mark your diaries as this is a much smaller venue than the parish hall and places will be limited.

DON’T forget, if you have information to share in our village notes or a story to tell, please email pampryor@btinternet.com or telephone (01434) 682927.
