Ada Lyons, who is a resident at Charlotte Straker House in the village, celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday with a home-made cake, flowers, balloons, presents and a card from the Queen.
Born in Rochdale in 1918, Ada has family in the area and after living in Corbridge for a number of years, she moved into Charlotte Straker House in 2009.
She and fellow resident, Lily Smith, helped the charity which runs the care facility – the Charlotte Straker Project – to celebrate a century of care being delivered from the base last month.
The duo helped to plant a Charlotte rose to mark 100 years since Joseph Henry Straker gifted the building, which was once known as Prior House, to the community in memory of his wife Charlotte Maria.
