THREE Northumberland roads will remain closed until next month for junction and drainage works.

Northumberland County Council made a temporary traffic regulation order covering roads near Ridsdale, Birtley and Kirkwhelpington.

The U8158 Cowden Junction to Carrycotts Hall Junction road is closed from its junction with the A68 at Five Lane Ends to Ridsdale. The closure will cover the entire section, heading north east.

A 2,200-metre section of the C210 Cowden Junction to Cheviot Farm Junction road is closed. It runs from the A68 junction at Five Lane Ends to Ridsdale, heading east.

The U5011 Colt Crag Junction to Kirkwhelpington Junction road is closed for 3,700 metres. This section runs from its junction with the C210, heading north east.

The council expects the roads to be closed at all times only until November 20. However, the order is in place until December 18.

An alternative route will be available while the order is in force. Drivers can use the U5011, U5013, B6342 and A68, in either direction.

The council said changes to the alternative routes could be made if needed. Any changes will be marked with signs where possible.

Enquiries should be made to Northumberland County Council’s Contact Centre 0345 600 6400 or at https://one.network (enter the road number and road name), using reference 151824685.

Northumberland County Council requested the closures for junction upgrades, drainage works and other associated works.

To minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this order.
