This week, we're taking a swing through the archives to look back at some of the golf clubs that have been part of life in Northumberland and the Border counties for well over a century.
One of the oldest images takes us to 1906, showing players at Allendale Golf Club and Victorian golfers gathered at Allendale railway station before making their way to the course.
Golf had already established a firm foothold across the region by the turn of the 20th century.
Hexham Golf Club was founded in 1892 and originally played on Tyne Green before relocating to Spital Park in 1907, while Tynedale Golf Club would later make its home on the riverside site.
Among our archive images is the opening of the Tynedale Golf Club pavilion at Tyne Green in 1906.
Another picture, taken in 1958, looks out towards the Border Counties Bridge from Hexham Golf Club, highlighting the scenic surroundings that have long been enjoyed by golfers in the area.
Later photographs show how the game continued to thrive throughout the decades.
A June 1977 image features golfer Dent Oliver, while another from 1969 captures Brampton Golf Club women's captain Mrs Dorothy McKinlay with competitors taking part in the club's Captain's Day.
