A theatre-making workshop is giving children in Hexham the chance to create their own performance from scratch.
Taking place at Queen’s Hall in Hexham, the session is designed for eight to 11-year-olds and runs from 1pm to 3pm on Monday, August 24.
Led by Youth Theatre leads Tom Marton and Addison Keen, the workshop uses games, improvisation and storytelling techniques to create a short performance from scratch.
Tom’s practice as a theatre practitioner is founded in ethnographic action-based research pieces.
He has worked with youth theatre across the North East for the past six years, devising theatre that forefronts the voices of young people and developing a space where they have the freedom to express themselves creatively and develop personal skills.
Mr Keen has a long-standing connection to Queen’s Hall Youth Theatre, having first joined as a member of Stage Note in 2015 at the age of 12.
He returned to the team in 2022 as an assistant to support across all groups.
With a background in youth arts and the creative industries, Addison is passionate about helping young people grow in confidence, creativity and collaboration.
The workshop is a drop-off session, so parents and carers do not need to stay during the activities.
Tickets from £15, with a reduced price of £10 for a second child from the same family.
