A NORTHUMBERLAND café says customers have travelled more than 120 miles after a glowing review from TikTok star Kalani Ghost Hunter.
Haltwhistle's American-style Yellow Bird Café has said it is reaping the benefits of last Wednesday's (June 25) visit by social media travel and food reviewer Kalani Smith.
The American, who posts to his millions of followers over TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook under the Kalani Ghost Hunter name, left the café a stellar review on a video posted to his online channels.
Visiting with wife Savannah Smith and fellow content creator Chris Baird, they chowed down on a burger and a Korean chicken salad sub and called the food "really nice", while picking out the "freshness" of the ingredients.
Since their visit, owners of The Yellow Bird Cafe, Nicole Jordan and Carlos Carlin, say they have experienced an "influx of traffic" on the eatery's social media pages, and even had two people travel 120 miles to try their sandwiches.
"It is cool to have so many people mentioning that they'd seen the clips of us online," said Nicole.
"It's been quite mind-blowing, and we are just grateful to do what we love, in a town that has been so good to us.
"We hope this brings more people to see this little gem of a place and hopefully grab a sub sandwich or a burger from us while they're here."
Nicole, originally from Los Angeles, said that she and Carlos had been following Kalani and his wife, Savannah Smith, for "quite some time" and "couldn't believe it" when they replied to her Facebook comment inviting them to the café.
She added: "We saw that they had been in Carlisle the day before and thought, 'if there ever was a chance that he could come - it's today'.
"A little over an hour later, we saw them walking down Main Street heading towards us!
"Kalani, Savannah and Chris were lovely. They mentioned that they had been looking at our food online and already had a few things in mind that they wanted to try, then trusted chef Carlos to choose the rest."
Nicole said that The Yellow Bird prides itself on "serving good vibes", and it was great to have that energy matched by the group, and they hope to welcome them back someday in the future.
