A weekend of events in a Northumberland village will celebrate a wartime love story.
The Blanchland Letters tells the story of Peggy Wilkinson's life as an evacuee schoolteacher in 1940 in the village.
The free event will take place in the village on Saturday, June 27 from 11am to 4pm, and Sunday, June 28 from 11am to 3pm.
It will include an audio-visual show in the Abbey Church, original letters and photographs, and a map to follow the route of Peggy’s evening rambles.
A spokesperson said 1940s-themed costumes are encouraged, but no Armed Forces’ uniforms unless you are entitled to wear one.
The event is free of charge and open to all.
Visitors can buy a cup of tea, meet the author of The Blanchland Letters, Alison Dunn, share their memories and have their book signed in the White Monk Tea Rooms.
Copies of the book and donations to the church will be accepted only in cash.
