Charities, grassroots organisations and community groups across the UK could be in line for funding after Co-op opened applications for its latest £3.5 million community fund.

The retailer is calling on projects tackling some of the biggest challenges facing local communities to apply before the deadline on June 24, 2026.

Groups focused on improving access to food, supporting mental wellbeing, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening community connections and building more sustainable futures are all eligible to apply.

The funding programme has already supported more than 40,000 local causes since launching in 2016, helping community projects deliver everything from food support and youth activities to wellbeing initiatives and environmental programmes.

David Luckin, Head of Social Value and Community Engagement at Co-op, said communities continue to face significant challenges and that the funding can help local organisations make a meaningful difference.

"Co-operation and people working together can be very powerful, and our funding enables local causes to deliver projects that focus on issues that matter most locally," he said.

"We know that things can be increasingly challenging for communities and through this funding we can help to make a real difference."

Successful groups will join thousands of organisations that have already benefited from the scheme, which is backed by Co-op members and designed to support community-led solutions to local issues.

Applications are now open, with community groups being encouraged to submit their projects before the 24 June deadline.
