Historic Grade II Northumberland pub and hotel up for sale

The Anchor Hotel, a Grade II listed property in Haydon Bridge, Northumberland, is up for sale.

Records suggest that an inn occupied the site as early as 1422; it has nine letting bedrooms, a bar and a restaurant. It also has a café, lounge, and two-bedroom owners' accommodation.

The hotel, which was put on the market by Sidney Phillips, is said to "attract tourists all year round due to its scenic location and its proximity to Northumberland's major tourist attractions."

The hotel, which boasts a 3-star AA rating, stands beside the River South Tyne, England's largest salmon river.

The "picturesque village" is surrounded by some of the county's "most spectacular landscapes", and the area attracts scholars, tourists, walkers, and cyclists throughout the year, the agent added.

Haydon Bridge is "ideally situated" for road users, positioned on the A686 with direct access to the A69, providing convenient links to Newcastle and Carlisle.

It also benefits from "excellent" public transport connections, with hourly train services operating between Newcastle and Carlisle.
