YOUNG footballers are hitting the pitch in style thanks to a new kit sponsorship.
The South/West Northumberland District U13s team is proudly wearing the Banks Homes logo on their match day kit, including newly funded three-quarter training tops.
The team is made up of players from across the Tyne Valley and south Northumberland, stretching from Ponteland to Seaton Sluice.
They compete in league matches against other district teams from across the North East.
Michael Woods, senior community coach at the Newcastle United Foundation and coach of the South/West Northumberland District U13s, said: "We try to provide the most supportive possible environment in which our squad members can develop new skills, try new things and make mistakes, all in the name of helping them grow as players and, just as importantly, as people.
"We have proper training structures in place and with the quality we’ve seen so far, we’re very optimistic about what the squad can achieve this season.
"Having this new sponsored kit has been a real boost for the team’s self-confidence – everyone looks really sharp and together, which is in turn a real factor in helping their performance levels, and we’re very grateful to Banks Homes for funding this much-needed new strip, which our district teams will be able to wear for many years to come."
Players are nominated by schools within the catchment area and selected through annual trials.
The team trains and plays home games at the Lemington Football Centre in Westerhope.
Banks Homes, part of the family-owned, County Durham-based Banks Group, develops housing across North East England and Yorkshire.
Current projects include sites in West Rainton, Durham City, and Yarm.
The company recently unveiled plans for a new residential scheme at Kingston Village, located northwest of Newcastle and next to Newcastle Great Park.
