NEW analysis from a rail performance outlet has revealed the best and worst stations in West Northumberland, between Newcastle and Carlisle, based on performance and cancellations.
The region is not the busiest in terms of passenger travel, with only one station, Hexham, being inside the 1000 busiest across the country.
Every station was assigned percentages by On Time Trains, indicating how many of its trains were on time, one to two minutes late, three to four minutes late, five to nine minutes late, 10 minutes or more late, or cancelled, and then given an overall performance score based on this criteria.
Of all the stations in West Northumberland - all operated by Northern - only Hexham scored 80 per cent or above for overall performance, making it the best-ranked station in the region.

Of the 2,638 stations analysed in the data, Wylam, Prudhoe, Corbridge and Haltwhistle were ranked between the 1,000th and 2,000th busiest stations in the country.
While Stocksfield, Riding Mill, Bardon Mill and Haydon Bridge were all above 2,000th.
The nearest cities in the region all performed similarly; Newcastle achieved an overall performance of 80 per cent, Carlisle 75 per cent, and Sunderland 80 per cent.
