The proposal, south of Lanehead, involves installing eight solar panels at Park Lodge, near Bellingham, to supplement its energy provision as well as the construction of additional visitor parking.
The application was submitted to Northumberland National Park by Doonan Architects Ltd on February 5.
The new parking area is designed to be an extension of the road, providing a convenient spot for passing vehicles, visitors, and delivery drivers.
The design and access statement reads: "The altitude of the site means that the area bounded by and adjacent to the stone wall is already obscured from view when stood in the valley below.
"The photovoltaic array has been carefully sited to exploit this sheltered aspect, balancing inconspicuousness with avoiding overshadowing of the panels from the stone walls during the winter.
"The parking bay is sited along the existing lane and will have minimal visual impact on the landscape."
The panels are planned to be ground-mounted with a maximum height of 1.576 metres, secured to the ground with fixings.
"The proposed development of solar generation is of a small domestic scale and can be accommodated within the surrounding landscape without compromising the amenity of existing residents and would not result in an overdevelopment of the site," the proposal adds.
"The proposed car parking spaces will provide additional car parking space for visitors, and will also act as a passing place on this highway therefore additionally acts as an highway improvement to the safety of the highway for vehicles passing Park Lodge."
