An award-winning choreographer and filmmaker is set to present an evening of dance on film at Allendale Village Hall.

Rosemary Lee will showcase her unique contribution to dance filmmaking over the years in an event titled Moving Worlds.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 26, at 7.30pm.

The films, which have been celebrated for their magical quality, feature a diverse range of performers in various settings.

From a young boy leaping through sand dunes, a girl dancing in a forgotten garden, to more than 70 performers of all ages gliding through a cathedral of trees, the films aim to highlight the grace and individuality of each performer.

Ms Lee, who has been creating dance works for four decades, is known for her site-specific dances in settings ranging from a disused tyre factory to a vast windswept beach.

She works with both professionals and non-professionals, including children and elders, and her films have been made for the BBC, galleries, and festivals.

Her installations have toured a variety of venues nationally and internationally.

She was awarded an OBE for her contribution to dance in 2023.

The event will offer an informal presentation of a selection of her films, all made with a range of collaborators from the 1990s to the present day.

Ms Lee will also share insights into how and why she made the films and will be available to answer audience questions.

The film night is expected to last approximately two hours and will include an interval and time for questions and discussion with the artist.

Refreshments will also be available.

Audience members who have previously attended Moving Worlds have described it as a "revelation" and "well worth coming to".

Others have praised the "amazing body of humanitarian, nostalgic, and very beautiful work" that "made my heart race".

Press reviews have also been favourable, with Donald Hutera of Animated describing Ms Lee as "the real deal" and "one of the most gifted, level-headed, and articulate artists in the UK".
