CHEERS! A new outdoor bar has opened just in time for the summer.

Terry Christie, the esteemed owner of The Manor House Inn, Haltwhistle, was delighted to extend a special invitation to the chairman of Haltwhistle Town Council, Alan Sharp, and other prominent members of the town for the grand opening of the new outdoor bar on May 14 (today).

After Cllr Sharp cut the ceremonial ribbon, Terry invited the guests to try what was offered, including the cocktails on 'tap'.

Cllr Alan Sharp said that the bar was an 'asset' to the well-established business and had won many awards, including being named the winner of Channel 4's Four in a Bed last year.

Terry has owned the business since 2018 and employs more than 30 local residents.

Terry said about the new venture, "We have had an idea to build an outside bar for some time now because we are getting really busy with hotel guests and families having food.

"It was just to take on the congestion away from the front bar and of course, since we created our enclosed beer garden with those stunning views - it's nice to have the bar out there.

"And, of course, the bar has the same function as the inside one, so you can order food there, and there is a link directly to the kitchen. It sells all the latest cocktails, gins, whiskey, beer and spirits.

"It is a great addition to the Manor House and the services we provide.

"I have to say, I am so proud and happy with all the hard work getting the bar ready and finishing it to a high standard.

"The whole staff have pulled together, and we are all joining together for the celebrations.

"In today's opening ceremony, you can see the staff out there with big smiley faces because they are proud of their workplace and their jobs.

"It is fantastic to see everyone so positive."
