A Hexham Middle School pupil's artwork is set to be included in the Young Artists’ Summer Show at the Royal Academy of Arts Gallery in London.

Thousands of children aged four-19 around the UK entered the competition, ran by the Royal Academy of Arts, to be a part of the exhibition.

Entries were judged by a panel of passionate artists and arts professionals, and the chosen artworks are to be exhibited both on the internet and in the London gallery from July 16 to August 11.

This year, 30 pupils from Hexham Middle School took part in the contest.

The triumphant artwork, titled 'My Window', was created by Year 7 student, Billy Barnes.

Ellie Taylor, Hexham Middle School’s Art Teacher, said: "The quality of the artwork submitted was phenomenal.

"I’m incredibly proud of all the pupils who worked so hard on their entries.

"Billy is a very talented artist and we can’t wait to see his work on the walls of the London gallery!

"I am very proud of our talented artists at HMS."
