THE Northumberland Greyhound Rescue family event has been hailed a success after its huge turnout at its annual event at Druridge Bay on April, Sunday 21.

Not only was it a chance to show how great greyhounds can be for pets, but the event also raised over £1000.

The day started with a walk round the beautiful Ladyburn Lake, followed by a quick coffee.

If the challenge of finding the mystery greyhound name was too hard then it was the “fun” greyhound agility course that really brought out the inner athlete in hounds and owners alike.

Participants also took part in the 'famous sausage catch', raffle, and lucky dips made it a winning combination.

At the end, there was a relaxed beach walk.

The event was an opportunity for greyhounds to meet potential owners.

Jenny Thomas event organiser commented “it was a fantastic day with over 120 dogs taking part.

"The event also raised over £1000 pound for Northumberland Greyhound Rescue, huge thanks to all the amazing sponsors and the participants for their incredible generosity as well as our volunteers and the staff at Druridge Bay for all their hard work and support.

"Particular thanks to our guests from the Freemasons for their continued interest and donations, including Treasurer W.Bro Terry Christie who owns the Manor House Hotel in Haltwhistle and The Provincial Grand Almoner W.Bro Norman West and Master of the Lodge W.Bro John Freeman, Lodge Almoner W.Bro Ian McArthur and Assistant Secretary Bro David Gibson from the Duke of Connaught Lodge No 3892."

Terry Christie adds:“ Its an absolute pleasure for all of us here at The Duke of Connaught Lodge No 3892 to sponsor and provide continued support for the Northumberland Greyhound Rescue.

"It is a great charity that is ran completely by volunteer’s and its also an honour and privilege to witness freemasons in the province of Northumberland all come together and support their local community charities “
