A local art gallery will be turned into a flat after Northumberland County Council approved its change of use application with no objections.
Permission has been granted for the owner of Tynedale Fine Art Products Ltd Haslams Of Hexham, on 22-24 Hallgate, to be turned into a one-bedroom flat upstairs.
Downstairs, the rest of the ground floor of the building will remain in use as an art gallery retail outlet.
The front of the existing building, looking out onto Hallgate, will remain the same, with the exception of the proposed installation of an original Georgian-style window to replace the existing contemporary large paned glass window. This will mirror the other existing shopfront window located to the west of the site.
There will also be an additional window installed, which will look out onto a courtyard area located at the rear of the building.
Applicant Ben Haslam applied for permission on Friday, January 9 2024 and the decision was made on March 14.
There was no response from Hexham Town Council, Highways, Building Conservation or Public Protection. Nine neighbours were also notified but none objected to the change of use.
