A COUPLE enjoyed a cruise around the Adriatic Sea and a stay at an all-inclusive hotel in Croatia after their wedding, where the groom used his wife's middle name during the vows.

Adam Brown and Abbie Lumley met through work in 2016, which caused a spark between them, and they haven't looked back since.

Abbie, a solutions developer, said: "Adam was an engineer for a security company, and I worked in the office dispatching Adam’s jobs.

"The rest is history.

"After several years, Adam proposed to me on Saturday, July 9 2022, at Embleton Bay, Northumberland.

"We arrived for a family dog walk on the beach and were greeted by Adam’s mum, Julie, and my mum, Janice (who had travelled all the way from Nottingham).

"Adam then asked me to look at the tag on their dog (Koda’s) collar, which read “Will you marry my dad please?”

"I turned around to see Adam on one knee with the ring.

"We then sat down on the beach for some champagne before travelling home, where our families had decorated our house. They had made a cake, and there was lots of champagne on ice and a BBQ set up ready to celebrate the occasion!

"Adam went to Harrogate for several nights for his stag do. On the first night, he had a BBQ and drinks at the accommodation. Then, for the rest of the time, he did activities such as climbing along walls and rocks in the river, abseiling, and caving.

"For my hen do, I went to a 'celebration cottage' in Halifax for a couple of days, where we had drinks in the hot tub, played bowling, and participated in a cocktail-making class followed by games, drinks, and karaoke."

The pair got married at Shotton Grange on Saturday, August 5 2023.

Abbey wore a beautiful white A-Line ¾ sleeve dress with a Daydream belt and mid-length veil as she met Adam at the end of the aisle. Whereas Adam wore a three-piece grey suit with a green bow tie.

"We had 54 daytime guests join us, then had 64 additional evening guests," she recalls.

"Our champagne reception was at 3:30 p.m., followed by canapes at 4 p.m., the speeches and champagne at 5:20 p.m., and our evening food at 9 p.m.

"Our wedding cake was a 3-tier Victoria Sponge cake, and then we headed to the dance floor for our first dance, which was to Lucky by Jason Mraz, sung by a live singer.

"For our entertainment, we had karaoke, beer pong and a DJ,

"Our favourite moments from the day were the love and support they felt from our family and friends throughout the day.

"It was nice just spending that day with all our favourite people in one place.

"Oh, and not forgetting when Adam said my middle name during vows!"
