WE asked our readers for their favourite places for brunch in Hexham and wider Tynedale. Here's what they said.
The Shire Gate Cafe, Hexham has the 'best breakfast around', according to reader Edward Furlong.

The restaurant serves a wide range of breakfast and brunch dishes, from American-style pancakes to eggs royale or The Sycamore Breakfast.
The Riverside Kitchen, Chollerford, Hexham was recommended by Stephanie Rogerson.
Serving breakfast sandwiches, teacakes and toast, the Riverside Kitchen is situated on the Hadrian’s Wall route.
Bywell Coffee Barn, Stocksfield was another favourite chosen by Lindsay Dodds. One Google reviewer said: "Lovely cafe. Good selection of seating. Friendly, efficient staff. Food was delicious and a variety of options."
Susan Wray recommended bottomless brunch at Vercelli, Hexham. This includes a choice of starters, pizza and pasta options plus a choice for dessert.
One Facebook review said: "Love this place and Jordan’s cooking skills are unbelievable. Delicious food every time! Staff are so friendly and professional and you’ll never wait long for your food or drinks."
Wentworth Cafe, Hexham has the 'best breakfast in Hexham', according to Michelle Gregg.

Bernard Craig commented: "The Rising Cafe without a doubt." The Hexham cafe has the perfect 1940s cosy feel to enjoy a traditional breakfast bap or mix it up with a California Dream - scrambled egg with tomatoes, avocado and seeded bread.
The Yellow Bird Cafe, Haltwhistle describes itself as an 'eclectic café serving fresh sandwiches, baked goods and American sweets and drinks'. Find a variety of breakfast sandwiches or eggs 'n' toast to brighten your day. One Facebook review said: "Best sarnies in Haltwhistle. Great coffee while you wait. Delicious."
