A father-son duo from Morpeth will go on a 4,000 mile road trip in Italy to help families struggling with the cost of living crisis.

Shawn, 58, and Mikey Humphrey, 25, are preparing for the road trip to particularly tackle child poverty in Northumberland.

Driving together as part of their participation in the charity fundraiser 'Italian Job', Shawn, a retired executive in the vehicle manufacturing industry and Mikey, a hospital porter, are set to travel to Italy's picturesque terrain.

The pair will journey to visited stomping grounds from the 1969 film 'The Italian Job'.

Shawn said: "We were contemplating our next moves when my wife proposed the Italian Job.

"Intrigued, I delved deeper into its details, especially its fundraising aspect, and was enthralled. It wasn't just an event; it had a purpose.

"We quickly decided to join, originally intending to surprise Mikey. However, I soon realised we couldn't keep it under wraps for too long, as I was eager to kickstart the fundraising efforts as soon as possible."

Already exceeding their original target, they are seeking sponsorships and promoting their cause at car shows.
