A NEW charity shop is opening on the high streets.

Oak Tree Animals' Charity shop has opened a new store on 23 Main Street, Ponteland today (Wednesday, March 13).

This will be the organisation's second site in Tynedale after opening its first in Hexham in two years ago.

The shop will be accepting donations from tomorrow and will be open 9am to 4.30pm Monday - Saturday and then 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Estelle Vasey, the Area Manager for the North East Oak Tree Charity Shops, said:"The secret is out - we're so excited to be opening our first boutique charity shop in Ponteland!

"We are looking forward to opening our doors on Wednesday at 9am and welcoming both human and dog shoppers.

"We accept a range of quality donations including clothing, accessories (including shoes, handbags, jewellery and belts), books, CDs and DVDs, electricals, collectibles, homeware, and bric-a-brac.

"All of the money raised in our charity shops benefits the animals supported by Oak Tree Animals' Charity.

"Last year we managed to help over 4,400 animals across our region and we hope to be able to help even more this year with your support."
