AN education watchdog has praised a preschool for its 'nurturing' environment and interactions between teachers and pupils.

Chollerton pre-school in Barrasford has been awarded Outstanding in its latest OFSTED report and rated as 'outstanding' in all four categories: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership, and management.

It is situated within Chollerton First School and is open Monday to Friday from 8.45 am until 3.15 pm, during term time only. It also offers childcare for children aged 2-4 years old.

The early years setting has gone from good at its previous inspection in 2018 to outstanding in February 2024.

Pre-school manager Becky Gibson, who took over the management of the pre-school in 2021, is ‘over the moon’ with their latest inspection result.

She said: "We have worked so hard and I am so proud of my team and the children at Pre-school’.

"Inspectors described the staff as ‘highly skilled pre-school staff that creates an exceptionally nurturing and caring environment for children and their families’.

"They stated ‘the interactions between staff and children are superb’ and that ‘children show deep levels of engagement in exciting adventures which staff create’. The inspector reported that ‘children arrive in the morning eager to start their day’.

"The report also said ‘parents praise the manager and the staff for their commitment and passion for their roles’ and that ‘parents are involved in all aspects of their children’s care and learning’.
