North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) seeks nominations from patients for its forthcoming annual awards.

Titled 'In the Spotlight', NEAS invites patients to nominate the staff member they believe has provided outstanding care to their aid.

Nominations for the Patient Choice Award can be made until March 31 at www.neas.nhs.uk/your-service/patient-feedback/nominate-our-staff.

The awards recognize contributors from NEAS’s more than 3,000 employees and its volunteer army who embody the Trust’s vision of unrivalled patient care.

NEAS chief executive, Helen Ray, emphasized the importance of recognition for staff hard work, stating that the awards are one of the ways they aim to make their people feel valued.

Ms Ray said: "Our people play a really important role in the lives of North East residents every day, whether it be answering 999 or 111 calls, giving clinical care or patient transport, or supporting the front line with everything from fleet, recruitment and finances to occupational health and information technology."

The awards' Patient Choice category recognises those who have noticeably placed patient care at the heart of their work.

The 2023 accolade went to Hexham station’s Maurice Kitcatt, Billy Turnbull, Emmelia Dunn, and Linda Gibson for their patient-centred approach and their intense dedication to patient safety.
