Newcastle’s Life Science Centre is offering adults the opportunity to marvel at the beauty of the night sky with its new 'Live Skies' shows.

Held at the Centre's state-of-the-art planetarium, the evening series is aimed at adults and focuses on in-depth discussions of the mythology and history around seasonal star arrangements starting with Virgo in April. The presenter-led shows expand on the family planetarium shows which have been growing in popularity. There is an option for visitors to enjoy drinks at the Centre’s café bar.

The planetarium, the largest in the north, has also added new dates to its 'Dark Side of the Moon' performances, illuminating the solar system with visuals accompanied by Pink Floyd’s iconic album.

Chief executive of Life, Linda Conlon, said the shows would provide a "360-degree journey into the wonders of the night sky" using the most innovative, high-resolution visuals and sound quality on offer.

The Centre aims to offer a departure from a traditional night out with its new evening shows.

Conlon said that the new shows will offer an "entertaining night out that you can’t find anywhere else in the region."
