The renowned Kielder Marathon has announced a partnership with babyloss charity, 4Louis, for its 2024 event.

Taking place on October 5 and 6 at Northumbrian Water’s Kielder Waterside Park with the backdrop of Kielder Reservoir, the marathon is aiming to lend a helping hand to families dealing with the tragic loss of a baby or child.

Founded in 2010 by Steve Cram, the Kielder Marathon, known as ‘Britain’s most beautiful’, attracts more than 3,500 participants across a variety of races, running not just for the competition but also to generate funding for worthy causes.

This year, 4Louis, a Sunderland-based national charity, stands at the centre of this spirit of giving.

4Louis, dedicated to offering comfort and support to families touched by miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of a baby or child, provides memory boxes and free training to hospital units, hospices and professionals helping families to grieve.

4Louis is encouraging individuals to take part in the event and fundraise for the charity.

Event organisers are committed to highlighting the work carried out by the charity, with the hope that many of the participants will choose to support the cause.

4Louis' work will be featured prominently in the marathon's communications material and the charity will have a strong presence throughout the event weekend.

Amber Langley, project manager at 4Louis, said: "At 4Louis, we are thrilled to be named the official charity partner of the Kielder Marathon events.

"This partnership signifies a shared dedication to health, wellness, but also a profound dedication to supporting families through their most challenging times."

Marathon founder, Steve Cram, said: “We’re delighted to be working with a charity that does such vital work to help those who are dealing with the toughest circumstances. I look forward to seeing a lot of 4Louis vests on the start line in October, and I hope that they raise a lot of money.”
