Health care provider Cumbria Health on Call has announced a name change to come into effect later this month.

The service has been operating under its present name since it was founded in 2009.

This change, set for Monday, February 26, will see the provider adopt the title 'Cumbria Health'.

The company has said that the change comes as a reflection of its growth and evolution in the last decade.

Once an out-of-hours primary health care provider, today the service is a 24/7 operation.

Its growth includes six GP practices scattered across Cumbria, and numerous daytime services, all while holding the needs of their patients at their core.

In line with the name change, its administrative operations will relocate to Rosehill, Carlisle, which will include both the administrative and call handling functions.

Chief executive of Cumbria Health, Susan Blakemore said: "In 2023 we undertook a rebranding exercise to reflect our varied and innovative service, this was done in partnership with a local company, H&H Reeds.

"This engagement returned a strong message, that our service and name means a lot to both our team and the patients we serve, along with a strong sense of pride in all that we do and in the name 'Cumbria Health on Call'."

"Therefore we knew we needed to retain our heritage whilst looking to reflect our service as it now is, I am pleased to announce that from 26th February 2024 we will operating under the name Cumbria Health."

Ms Blakemore added: "Along with our new name, we have a new logo.

"This logo has a nod to our original red ‘C’, but with a new look and no longer limited to a clock which previously reflected only the out of hours part of our service.

"The logo is instead one flowing line, representing our joined up and consistent service in a simple and clear image."

She concluded: "We are excited to launch our new name as we continue to grow our strong and responsive service for the benefit of the patients that we serve’.
