A SALON has been praised for its fundraising event.

Saks Hexham has raised more than £10,700 for The Eve Appeal at the fundraiser event at Slaley Hall on Saturday, February 3.

On the night, there was a 12-piece band playing party classics, party games for all the guests, and a raffle for five huge luxury bundles donated by clients.

According to many of the guests, one of the highlights was  Johnathan Burr and Johnathan Strutt singing with the band on the condition that hairdresser Andrea Currah sang too, which raised £500 for the appeal.

One of the attendees, Kathryn Currah, said: "My husband and I attended the Saks Eve Appeal and were overwhelmed by the organisation of the event, the atmosphere and the generosity shown by the attendees.

"The night was emotional yet high-spirited, and the raffle and auction brought not only excellent prizes but again demonstrated the compassion and kindness of those that both organised and attended the event. We hope Saks was pleased with the overall amount raised."

Saks team member Shannon Currah said: "All Saks salons support The Eve Appeal - we’re super-proud that, with the help of amazing customers, friends and families, we’ve raised over £200,000 nationally so far.

"Saks Hexham had previously contributed more than £14,000.

"It’s our desire to make you look and feel better every day, that’s why it’s our big aim to show how much we care by supporting the only national charity dedicated to raising funds for gynaecological research.

"The Eve Appeal is the leading UK national charity funding research and raising awareness into the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.

"This is particularly close to salon owner Andrea and Shannon’s heart as they lost their mam and grandma to cervical cancer.

“The event was a huge success - we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests who really got involved with all of our games, raffle, auction and more.

"The band HUGE was fantastic, Ian was a wonderful compere for the evening and really got everyone in the giving mood!

"We all danced the night away in the beautiful setting of Slaley Hall. Thank you to the team, friends and family for all their help on the night! And to clients and friends for supporting such a great cause!”
