A Northumberland-based environmental consultancy has made a new senior appointment.

Finance manager Neil Wilson, formerly managing director of North East software company Mandata, has joined Biodiverse Consulting.

Founder and director Vicki Mordue said: "We enjoyed an incredibly successful year last year, throughout which we invested in a host of new talent and resources to support the demand for our specialist environmental services.

"We are thrilled to begin 2024 by welcoming Neil into our growing team."

With environmental legislation changes looming in February, Mr Wilson's appointment comes at a crucial time for the sector.

His responsibilities will include streamlining operations and supervising the company's technological investments.

He said: "Sharing their passion for balancing business with biodiversity, I feel incredibly inspired by their work to support nature’s recovery.

"With plans for exponential growth on the horizon, I am thrilled to be at the forefront of this exciting period.”

Biodiverse Consulting, established in 2019, now boasts a team of 16 and is actively recruiting more ecologists across the UK.

Ms Mordue also revealed plans for a new southern office presence, confirming the recruitment of a southern-based ecologist.

The firm, which aids the built environment sector in achieving sustainable development, counts Dysart Developments, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, Pegasus Homes, and The Wildlife Trusts among its clientele.
