A 104-acre woodland that comes with carbon capture rights is now available to buy.

The woodland, which is divided into three distinct blocks at Widdrington Plantations in Northumberland, is located between Morpeth and Alnwick.

It's associated with timber, sporting, and most notably, carbon potential since its plantation in 2021/22.

The sale of lot 3, named "Poppy's Wood", includes carbon rights which makes it a desirable asset for ethically conscious firms.

A recent Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) evaluation granted the site 6,491 Woodland Carbon Units.

John Coleman from GSC Grays said: "This woodland is a high natural capital and sequestration resource.

"The three blocks extend in total to 103.96 acres focused on delivering a more resilient species composition that has the ability to combat pests, disease, and climate change."

He said the site's location and soil quality add to its appeal.

The two remaining plots, despite not having carbon rights, are near a public road which helps for timber extraction and maintenance.

All tree planting projects have been finished and the woodland is currently in its maintenance phase.

An ongoing agreement with the England Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO means that the woodland's future owner(s) will be entitled to annual maintenance payments over a 15-year period.

This woodland is on the market at £755,000 via GSC Grays Farm Agency Department.
