On January 26, Newcastle International Airport will be the venue for an aviation-focused Careers Fair, with more than 250 roles available across the site.

The event will showcase roles across numerous disciplines as the airport gears up for what is expected to be a busy summer.

Last year, the North East's largest Airport welcomed two new airline partners and a host of new routes.

It is now poised to host its largest-ever flight programmes to Greece, Turkey, and the Canaries.

As one of the region's largest employers, the airport promises a raft of exciting career prospects and robust opportunities for progression.

The Careers Fair will show off a spectrum of positions from entry-level roles to team leader and managerial vacancies.

Attendees can expect to learn about flexible shift patterns alongside full and part-time positions.

The fair, expected to draw substantial crowds, will be held at St James’ Park in association with the Newcastle United Foundation.

Those interested can explore roles such as security officers, passenger services assistants, cleaning operatives, and car parking operatives.

The airport's on-site business partners, including Jet2.com & Jet2holidays, Swissport, Executive Lounges by Swissport, World Duty Free, Boots, WHSmith, dnata, SSP, and Up & Away, also have positions to fill.

Following his experience at the Airport’s Careers Fair, David Toulson transitioned from banking to airport operations.

He joined the Newcastle International Airport team as a seasonal car parking operative and progressed to a permanent role as team leader.

Referring to his experience, Mr Toulson said: "After 35 years with a major UK bank, I decided to semi-retire and search for a new role that offered a better work-life balance.

"I saw the advert for Newcastle International Airport's Careers Fair on Facebook, and as soon as I walked into St James' Park, I was pulled in by the warmth of the Airport team.

"The Car Park Operative role was exactly what I was looking for."

Nick Jones, Chief Executive of Newcastle International Airport, reflected on last year's success. He said: "After welcoming 4.9 million passengers in 2023, we are expecting even more passengers to pass through our doors this year.

"We start 2024 as an award-winning Airport for the second consecutive year and have invested millions of pounds into the passenger experience ahead of the upcoming summer season."

Committed to enhancing customer service experiences, he believes the candidate search will attract enthusiastic individuals who share the airport’s vision.

He said: "The aviation industry offers excellent career prospects and a wide range of roles and I encourage anyone looking for employment or a new challenge to come along and find out more information."

Taking place from 10am to 2.30pm, the Careers Fair is free to attend.

Guests are encouraged to register for the event on Eventbrite.
