The winner of a hospice raffle has turned a jackpot prize into a huge donation.
Bristol Street Motors donated a new Hyundai i10 Connect as the top prize for the St Oswald's Hospice raffle.
The raffle, celebrating its 30th anniversary, raised an impressive £38,000 towards the Hospice's operating costs.
Over the years, the raffle has raised an overall total of £1.45 million.
This year's winners were Ron and Pat George from Whickham.
Mr George, a longtime supporter of the charity and an outpatient at the hospice's Lymphoedema Service, said: "We have been aware of St Oswald’s for many years and have supported it throughout that time.
"The difference the Hospice makes to people’s lives is indescribable."
Mr George sold his prize car back to Bristol Street Motors, using the funds to make substantial donations to both the Hospice and its dedicated Lymphoedema Service.
Kath Clark, Matron of St Oswald’s Hospice Day Services, said: “The donation Mr George has made to the hospice is incredible and everyone is very touched by his kind gesture.”
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Bristol Street Motors, said: "Mr George’s decision to sell the car back to us and donate to the Hospice is a wonderful gesture, and one we were delighted to support."
