WE asked our readers if and where they planned to celebrate Burns Night later this month. 

Burns Night marks the anniversary of Robert Burns' birth on January 25 1759 and the traditional Burns supper is an evening event that celebrates his life and work.

We rounded up some of the places you can celebrate this year.

1 Bird in Bush Inn, Elsdon

Jackie Sewell recommended the Bird in Bush pub in the rural village. The pub will hold a three-course supper on Friday, January 26 from 7pm. A ceilidh will take place with the Roddy Mathews Band. Tickets are available for £35 per person and guests can book to stay for the night from £99 which also includes dinner.

2 Border Park RFC, Bellingham Town Hall

Jamie Dixon said: "Border Park RFC are hosting a Burns Night in Bellingham. Traditional Burns Night supper, guest speakers, Scottish piper and The Crosby Brothers providing the entertainment. Tickets are available on the Border Park RFC Facebook page."

The event will take place on Saturday, January 27.

3 The County Hotel, Hexham

The County will celebrate the occasion with food, whisky, words and music on Thursday, January 25 from 7pm. For a five-course dinner, tickets cost £35 per person. It is pre-book only and there is limited availability.

4 The Blackbird, Ponteland

The award-winning Blackbird is hosting its Burns Night celebration on Thursday, January 25, with some unique twists on the traditional favourites.

Dinner costs £40 per person and vegetarian options are available.

5 The Northumberland Arms, Felton

Burns Night is also being celebrated at The Northumberland Arms, Felton, which is the sister site to The Blackbird, on January 25.

The event costs £35 per head and vegetarian options are available.

5 The Black Bull, Corbridge

Burns Night will be celebrated from January 25 to January 27, from 5pm. The four-course Burns Supper costs £28.

6 Wellington Hotel, Riding Mill

The event will be celebrated from January 25 to January 27, from 5pm. The four-course Burns Supper costs £28.

7 Burns Night Ceilidh, Wylam Institute Community Association

Tickets cost £18 and include supper and entertainment from the Prudhoe Ceilidh Band.

8 Lumley Castle, Chester-le-Street

This stately castle is further afield than the other options but offers a Burns Night Banquet, involving a six-course meal, goblets of red wine and mead, plus a disco until closing on January 26 and 27. 

9 Burns Night at Black Horse, Beamish

Enjoy a four-course Scottish-inspired menu, along with whiskey pairing, with open log fires in a rustic venue on January 24.

10 Burns Night Chef's Table, Blackfriars Restaurant and Banquet Hall

On January 26, enjoy an evening of watching a six-course meal cooked in front of you, with an extensive wine list, a selection of local beers and more.
