A local councillor would recently enjoy an inspiring night at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in London.
Alison Smith was invited to a sparkling evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on November 20 due to the success of her popular local shop, Matthias Winter.
The eco-friendly community hub prioritises sustainable products and reusable packaging, and made the finals for its commitment to sustainability.
The Great British Entrepreneur Awards celebrate outstanding individuals and businesses that drive innovation, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the UK economy.
While Alison wasn't able to bring the award back to Hexham, the experience was a enjoyable and educational one.
She said: "We didn't win but we did have a great night and were very proud to even be there. We were totally inspired by all the businesses on the winning podium.
"The event was hosted by Wynne Evans who kept everyone entertained throughout the evening. There were so many talented and inspiring people to talk to but a little tricky to get round everyone as there were 1,000 people there!"
