A Tynedale MP has been appointed a new role in the UK government
Hexham MP Guy Opperman has been appointed as a Minister for Roads and Local Transport in Rishi Sunak's government after several years as a Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions.
Guy's new role will focus on cycling, active travel, roads, and buses. He also plans to work locally to improve cycling routes across West Northumberland and upgrade the A69.
He will also be responsible for implementing Network North - the new infrastructure that cancelled Birmingham - Manchester link of HS2 will pay for.
Guy Opperman MP said "My priority will continue to be my constituents. From rebuilding every high school across Tynedale and Ponteland to continuing my annual jobs fair and cutting unemployment locally, I will try and represent everyone. If you have an issue you would like to raise, please email me at guy.opperman@parliament.uk."
