AN OUTDOOR activity business will feature on television this week.

Filming took place at Turboventure, based in Matfen, which is the longest-established multi-activity provider in the North East, offering outdoor activities including archery and quad biking, for small groups or parties including stag dos.

Turboventure has run for approximately 30 years and is located on the Matfen Hall estate beside Go Ape, another outdoor adventure company which runs tree-top courses.

Crews from the classic car show Bangers and Cash filmed on the businesses' rural estate when they test-drove an Argocat ATV in summer.

The programme follows a family auction business based in Thornton Le Dale in North Yorkshire, and their passion for classic cars.

Richard Wilson, founder and owner of the independent Turboventure, said crews from the show bought the eight-wheeled Argocat vehicle at auction and took it to a garage near Carlisle to be reconditioned.

This is the first time Bangers and Cash have featured an amphibious vehicle - one which can move on land and in water.

"Part of [taking it to be reconditioned] was they wanted to use it again in the water, to get footage of it swimming. The man from the garage said there wasn't anywhere appropriate near him in Cumbria to do that. Bangers and Cash rang us as we have past experience with the Argocat, and asked if we would give a report on it as to how well the restoration had been done and then if we would test it in the water."

Once the Argocat had been checked, it was put onto the lake on the golf course at Matfen and was a success.

"It was fun to do, it was completely different and that's the joy of doing what we do."

The Argocat has since been auctioned in Yorkshire.

Turboventure's appearance on Bangers and Cash will be shown on Thursday evening (November 16) at 8pm on the Yesterday TV channel.
