A COUPLE have proved that dating apps can help to find love after they get married under the moon at Hexham Abbey.

After taking a chance on the dating app Plenty of Fish and weeks of talking online Lauren Buckingham met her husband Jordan Whitehouse in person and felt like she had known him her whole life.

Two years later, Jordan a site operator at a chemical plant proposed to Lauren next to Durham Cathedral.

Student nurse Lauren said: "Jordon proposed in front of Durham cathedral next to the sanctuary knocker on November 23, 2020, but he lost the ring down a busy side street.

"He told me I was looking for something beginning with 'r' ending in 'g' and he was gutted he lost it.

"He clearly had the whole thing planned... not.

"After that we had our stag and hen celebration. I had an away hen at York with bridesmaids and then I had an at home hen at Bonker Bingo whereas Jordan's stag was at ghetto golf and Stein Bier Keller in Newcastle."

"Our wedding venue was Hexham Abbey two years on our engagement date.

"We had no real theme other than a celestial pumpkin autumn type with a dash of Disney.

"My dress was from Pronovias in York and my second dress from Dolly and Dotty online.

"We then had our reception at the Beaumont hotel with 34 guests, had drinks reception around 12pm then had a meal around 2:30pm our evening started 7pm.

"To entertain us, we had some surprise singing waiters – which I loved.

"Our cake was a bespoke cake which had flavours of cherry bakewell, toffee biscoff, lemon and salted caramel flavoured tiers.

"Our first dance was choreographed by Zazz dance school to 10/10 by Paolo Nutini, which was a rock n roll jive type dance.

"My favourite moment from the day was the waiters surprise, doing my first dance and although it sounds soppy seeing my groom at the end of the aisle.

"Jordan's was seeing his nana Lottie who is 93 and she making it to the wedding."
