The historic Golden Lion Country Inn in Corbridge will soon welcome patrons under new local management.

The tenure has been secured by a family with deep roots in the community.

Adrian Proud, a familiar presence in Corbridge's hospitality scene, is heading up this initiative.

He carries with him a quarter-century of experience from his tenure as assistant manager at The Black Bull.

Alongside him will be his wife Pam, who brings with her a 'wealth of experience, banter, and an infectious smile'.

Their son Daniel will oversee the running of the kitchen.

An accomplished chef who previously worked at Sycamore and The Lord Crewe Arms, Daniel is developing a menu including traditional and modern dishes cooked on site using locally sourced, fresh ingredients.

The front of house will be managed by Lauren, Daniel's sister.

She comes with previous hospitality exposure and is a trained barista.

Two open fires, cosy dining and sitting areas, along with plans for bed and breakfast accommodation, will contribute to the venue's charm.

Adrian is curating a range of beers and lagers to put on tap, aiming to pioneer with non-alcoholic lager on draught.

Speaking about his vision, Adrian said: "I want to create a country pub in the heart of the village where people will feel relaxed in comfortable surroundings. A cosy place for coffee, a drink or tasty food and to socialise and wile away a bit of time”.

The family plans to make many improvements before opening for the bustling Christmas period.
